Planned network outage March 6; Google tools unavailable March 7

On the morning of Sunday, March 6, the WCC network will be down. ITS will be adding a router in order to improve network reliability. Internet access into and out of the WCC network will be unavailable. Any service requiring VPN or Single Sign-on or services that are hosted in the WCC Data Center will be unavailable to faculty, staff and students.

Services Affected: WCC network will be down.

Start Time: 3/6/2022 6 a.m.
Anticipated End Time: 3/6/22 10 a.m.

What is impacted? Avaya Softphone, VPN, all shared drives, anything requiring Single Sign-on (SSO), Blackboard, MyWCC, Pay Tuition, Register for Classes and Check Your Progress, Banner 8/9, Financial Aid Appeals System, Portal applications, FAMIS, SARS Appointment Scheduling, UltraTime, and classrooms/labs will not be available.

What services will be available? On-site phones and the main college website will be available.


Google (Gmail and all GSuite tools) will be unavailable from 6-7 p.m. on Monday, March 7. There may be intermittent rolling outages up to 30 hours as the changes propagate the Google systems. No other systems will be affected. ITS is replacing the Central Authentication Service (CAS) Single Sign-on (SSO) server.

The Central Authentication Services (CAS) is a Single Sign-on protocol for the web. Its purpose is to permit a user to access multiple applications while providing their credentials (net ID and password) only once. We are updating the server to the most current version to remediate security vulnerabilities.

What services will be available? All other services will be available.
