Chief Hart began his law enforcement career as a patrol officer for the Novi Police Department in 1991. In 2000, he started the School Resource Officer program at Novi High School then served as an Investigator, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Assistant Chief of Police before retiring in December 2017 to lead the women and men of the Saline Police Department.
Chief Hart is passionate about providing contemporary police services and programs based on community demands and recently assembled a diverse group of stakeholders to develop the first-ever Strategic Plan with assistance from the Department of Justice.
Chief Hart holds bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Ferris State University and a master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Technology / Homeland Security from Eastern Michigan University. He is also a graduate of Eastern Michigan Universities School of Police Staff and Command and the University of Virginia, Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service -Leading, Educating and Developing program.
