Apprenticeship is an employer-driven, "earn while you learn" model that combines on-the-job training provided by the employer with related instruction at Washtenaw Community College. Apprenticeship is a flexible training strategy that can be customized to meet the needs of any business. Apprentices can be new hires or current employees who need skill upgrades.

- Express formal interest by either setting up a one-on-one meeting with Office of Apprenticeship staff, or join as a participant in our Closing the Skills Gap grant by filling out an interest form (red fields with an asterisk are required).

- Meet with an Office of Apprenticeship staff member regularly to discuss new opportunities, and define what you’re specifically looking for.
- Continuously apply to opportunities you are interested in. Be persistent!
- Prepare by doing mock interviews with a career advisor.
- Let the Office of Apprenticeship staff know that you’ve been hired.
- Communicate with employer to determine start date, worksite orientation and work schedule.
- Attend the Apprenticeship Orientation:
- Complete program overview and requirements for each semester.
- Set an academic schedule and timeline (this can change, to some degree once you get started).
