Associate in Arts, Human Service (AAHUST)
Washtenaw Community College (WCC) has collaborated with several colleges and universities to provide a transfer pathway from WCC’s Human Services program to a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Earning an Associate Degree
WCC students must complete all of the following course and degree requirements to earn an Associate in Arts. Regular meetings with an advisor are strongly recommended to stay on track for graduation. Degree Requirements
To complete the Associate in Arts Degree and the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) General Education Requirements, these credits should be met according to the following outline:
- English Composition: ENG 111:Composition I (4 credits)
- Second Course in English Composition or One course in Communication: COM 101 or COM 102 (3 credits)
- Mathematics: One course from MTA approved list; Check w/your transfer destination for the preferred course
- Natural Sciences: Two courses from MTA approved list (from two different disciplines); BIO 102: Human Biology with Lab (4 credits) is recommended
- Social Sciences: PSY 100: Intro to Psychology (3 credits) and SOC 100: Intro to Sociology (3 credits)
- Humanities and Fine Arts: Two courses from MTA approved list (from two different disciplines)

- HSW 230: Field Internship and Seminar I or HSW 235: Experience Seminar (1-3 credits)

- PSY 257: Abnormal Psychology (3 credits)
Additional Electives as needed to earn the 60 credits required for an Associate in Arts Degree.
WCC has articulation agreements (transfer agreements) with Eastern Michigan University and Wayne State University that provide WCC students with a transfer pathway that allows up to 69 credits to transfer towards a Bachelor of Social Work degree.
