Washtenaw Economic Club speakers to focus on labor and wage trends, November election results

The Washtenaw Economic Club will conclude its season focusing on labor and wage trends as well as impacts of the November election results. Tickets are available now for the September 26 and November 7 luncheon meetings hosted at Washtenaw Community College.

On September 26, Kerry Ebersole Singh, Executive Vice President and Chief Talent Solutions Officer with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), will discuss the labor market and wage trends.

On November 7, Tim Skubick, a longtime journalist covering state news at the capitol in Lansing, will discuss impacts of the Fall election results.

The Washtenaw Economic Club is sponsored by Washtenaw Community College and member industry partners. Luncheon events run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on campus in the Morris Lawrence Building, 4800 E. Huron River Drive.

Kerry Ebersole SinghThe Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Regional Chamber has partnered with the Washtenaw Economic Club to bring Ebersole Singh, who leads MEDC’s strategic focus of developing high-wage skills growth by working with businesses, higher education institutions and communities to better attract, retain and cultivate talent critical to the state’s economy.

Prior to serving at MEDC, Ebersole Singh was Director of the Office of Sixty by 30 in the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO). Among other roles, she has served as the lead staff supporting Michigan’s Workforce Development Board, helping to create a comprehensive, accessible and successful workforce development system.

Ebersole Singh earned a degree in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy from Michigan State University.

Tim SkubickThe final meeting of this season’s Washtenaw Economic Club will feature Skubick, the longest serving member of the state capitol press corps in Lansing.

He will review election results and analyze the impact on individuals.

Skubick has 50 years of experience on the state government and state campaign trail. He anchors the weekly public TV series, “Off the Record,” and covers Michigan politics for WJBK-TV and WLNS-TV-6 news in Lansing. He writes for the MIRS (Michigan Information & Research Service) newsletter, has authored two books on state politics and has received five Emmys.

He earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Michigan State University.
