The 21-member Michigan Council on Future Mobility held its January meeting at Washtenaw Community College and concluded the event by touring the college’s Advanced Transportation Center.
“If there’s anybody we would want here to see what Wash-tenaw Community College is doing in the mobility sector, it’s the council appointed by the governor to make recommendations about the state’s future in that industry,” said WCC President Dr. Rose B. Bellanca, who spoke to the group about some of the programs the college is offering to help the state build the workforce necessary to be the leader in advanced transportation.
Governor Rick Snyder formed the council in February 2017 with a stated goal of ensuring Michigan continues to be the world leader in automated, driverless and connected vehicle technology.
The council includes representatives from government, educational and private sector business, policy, research and technology leaders. It is housed within the state’s Department of Transportation.
