The Entrepreneurship Center at Washtenaw Community College is hosting its third annual Pitch@WCC contest on Tuesday, May 15 and the public is invited to attend and cheer on the competitors.
The Shark Tank-style competition gives current small business owners and want-to-be entrepreneurs a chance to pitch their business ideas for a chance to win cash prizes of up to $1,500 in three categories: Start, Build and Grow.
The event will be held from 6-8 p.m. in the Morris Lawrence Building on the WCC campus. Five judges will pick the main category winners and those in attendance can vote for the “Audience Choice Award.”
A cohort of competitors was chosen earlier this year and is currently working through a series of workshops to hone their business plan and pitching skills.
Last year’s Pitch@WCC event drew 15 pitches and an estimated 120 audience members. Winners included Credit Card Shavers (Start), AXC Apparel (Build) and A’s Custom ESL Tutoring LLC (Grow).
