On Thursday, October 6 we recognize National Depression Screening Day.
Natinoal Depression Screening Day (NDS) started in 1990 as a way to help raise awareness and decrease the stigma of depression and to help provide educational information to the public.
Screenings give individuals the chance to understand and make decisions about their mental health. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, there are an estimated 21 million adults that have experienced at least one major depressive episode in the past year. This represents 8.4% of the adult population in the United States.
To recognize this important day, WCC Personal Counselors are hosting a depression screening on campus. Please join us from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 6 in the Community Room on the first floor of the Student Center.
If you have never taken a depression screening, now is the time! WCC Personal Counselors will be available to briefly chat about our services and will have additional educational materials.
If you are unable to attend the on-campus screening, please feel free to access an online screening here!
If you have any questions or concerns about your screening results, don’t hesitate to reach out to us:
