Welcome to the Fall 2020 semester at Washtenaw Community College. You will receive
a Mind Your Mental Health email monthly from WCC Counseling & Career Planning, where we strongly believe that
making your mental health a priority is an important part of being a successful student.
As you know, this semester is atypical. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, all WCC
student services are being offered virtually (see a complete list here). In response, we are offering TeleMental Health Services to WCC students beginning today, the first day of fall semester. TeleMental Health, also known as online therapy, is simply receiving therapy through
videoconferencing, whereby the student and personal counselor are in two different
locations.
What does this mean for you, our WCC students?
- WCC's Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) have received TeleMental Health Training Certifications to better serve students virtually.
- TeleMental Health services are available to currently registered students who reside in the state of Michigan.
- TeleMental Health services are replacing WCC's in-person personal counseling services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- TeleMental Health services will begin with an intake assessment, in which the personal counselor will make recommendations for the student based upon the student's needs and WCC's Scope of Practice.
Students can make a TeleMental Health appointment by calling the Counseling & Career
Planning at 734-677-5223.
Therapy on the go: 24/7 assistance from anywhere
Visit the Personal Counseling webpage or click the Personal Counseling tab on Blackboard under student resources. 24/7 mental health support is available to students by calling 833-WCC 4 YOU (833-922-4968).
Any currently enrolled WCC student can use this mental health service.
