Born in Battle Creek, Michigan, Chef Chris has lived in Michigan his entire life. Chris got an extremely early start working with food as he was catering for his parents’ business here in Ann Arbor at the age of 12. While still in high school, he had already established himself in the Ann Arbor cooking scene while working for Main Street Ventures. By age 20, Chris was promoted to Sous Chef at Washtenaw Country Club where he worked for many years under Chef Bill Collins. Chris additionally attended Eastern Michigan University while working at Washtenaw Country Club. In 2003, Chef Chris graduated with Honors from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science.
In 2005, Chris began working at Barton Hills Country Club and in 2013 was promoted to the Executive Banquet Chef. After working in this position for 3 years, Chris accepted the Executive Chef position at Barton Hills Country Club, where he currently works. In 2016, Chris was invited to be a part of a very few selected chefs from around the country to cook for the 2016 Masters Golf tournament at the prestigious Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. While at the Masters, Chef Chris worked in the esteemed Founders kitchen cooking for Augusta National’s membership and past Masters champions. In 2017 Chef Chris was promoted to be one of Augusta National’s Sous Chefs for the Masters Tournament. In 2019 Chef Chris will return to Augusta for his fourth Masters Tournament and return to Barton Hills Country Club for his fifth season as the Executive Chef.
